EMAKUNDE recognizes ERHARDT Serikat for its commitment to equality

EMAKUNDE, the Basque Women’s Institute, has given ERHARDT Serikat the seal of recognition to the company for its commitment to equality.

Last Friday, the Minister of Equality, Justice and Social Policies, Nerea Melgosa, and the director of EMAKUNDE, Miren Elgarresta, presented the distinctions to 20 Collaborating Entities in the Equality of Women and Men during the conference “Companies committed to equal pay” . The event took place in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the context of the European Equal Pay Day, which will be celebrated on February 22.

On behalf of ERHARDT Serikat, Maite Miguez, Director of People in the group, and Carolina Izquierdo, Head of People Management and Development at ERHARDT Serikat, came to collect the award.

To obtain this seal, companies must have a diagnosis, an equality plan and a protocol against sexual and gender-based harassment, in addition to accrediting a track record in equality. With these new recognitions, there are now 150 Basque companies that have obtained this distinction that highlights their commitment to promoting equality within their organizations.

One of the goals of the 2030 Strategy for Equality between Women and Men in the Basque Country, approved this week by the Government Council, contemplates the reduction of the wage gap. The Basque Government has an important tool, the Strategy for Equal Pay, coordinated by EMAKUNDE and with the participation of up to 9 Government departments. Reducing the wage gap is a priority objective that requires coordinated work between the different areas of action of the Government.

EMAKUNDE is an autonomous body of the Basque Government that designs, promotes, advises, coordinates and evaluates equality policies, and raises awareness in society in order to achieve real and effective equality between women and men in the Basque Autonomous Community.
